Mindfulness

Mindfulness involves the conscious and deliberate direction of our attention.  Jon Kabat-Zinn defined “mindfulness” as follows.

“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.”

What this technique does is to teach you to cleanse your consciousness of negative memories as well as your unconscious fears.

The other technique discussed on today’s show was the “Ho’oponopono Forgiveness Method” which Dr. Len used to “cure an entire ward of criminally insane patients”.  He said he “healed them by healing himself”.

The secret here is to understand “Nothing happens out there.  It all happens in your mind”.  Once Dr. Len understood this concept, the way he treated his staff and patients changed.  Both he and his entire staff began to accept responsibility for everything they thought and everything that came to their attention and as a result of their changes toward the patients under their care, the entire ward became a respectful and peaceful place.

The most important part of this technique is accepting that what we “do” when a stressful situation happens is what makes the difference in our life.  Would forgiving yourself or doing “mindfulness” exercises each day transform your life and the lives of those around you?  All you really have to lose is the stress that may be surrounding you creating emotional, health and mental challenges.  Could this method be at least one way to begin “living your best life”?
