I sat down with Jim Lee for this show shortly after the release of his second book, Palmetto Sunrise. The story is a touching tribute to members of his family who helped to settle Florida at the turn of the century. The characters in the book are “bigger than life” and bring the reader along for an amazing adventure as they battle cattle rustlers, Indians, the climate and even an occasional gator.
Jim also shared what it takes to become a published author for those who are interested in writing. Along with dedication to the craft of writing, he explains that it also takes perseverance, time, financial commitment and patience. No-one becomes a success in this field overnight.
Jim is a fourth generation Floridian which is rare these days. He spent much of his childhood on a cattle ranch south of Kissimmee, Florida. Jim also wrote for the Tampa Tribune and several sports’ magazines. His love of writing is probably only surpassed by his love of hunting and fishing which he has done all of his life.
