What is anger? Anger is actually an emotion characterized by “antagonism toward someone or something”. Anger is a normal emotion but an excessive amount of this feeling can cause problems. The person who usually suffers the most if the feelings have moved toward “rage” is the angry individual. He/she will experience higher blood pressure, digestive issues, sleep disturbances, inability to focus, depression and many other physical and emotional difficulties.
Another side of anger is it can be a substitute emotion so the person doesn’t have to experience “pain” because it feels better to be angry at the person or situation than to actually feel the rejection or hurt. In this regard, the anger serves as a distraction from what is really going on internally. Anger now serves as a “smoke screen” for feelings of vulnerability.
Trey does an amazing job of helping listeners understand this emotion and he also provides ways to process anger in constructive ways.
