The actual practice of Shamanism is the oldest practice known to mankind. Through archeological evidence, the Shamanic methods go back about 100,000 years. Traditionally, shamanism has always meant “healer”. The shaman goes into an altered state of consciousness where there is information provided by “spirits” or guides. These spiritual beings transmit information which can assist in healing on a physical, spiritual or emotional level.
Being a shaman is a way of life. They honor the earth, air, water and the sun because of what each of these elements give to us so that we might live and thrive. Honoring nature may also mean talking to trees, plants, animals and all parts of the earth because we transfer energy when we interact with life. Words truly do have a “magical” quality in Shamanism.
Another dimension for Shamanism is the power of dreams. We can either dream of negative emotional situations and chaos or we can choose beauty, peace, harmony, abundance and good health. The choice is always ours to make.
